A 'Commitment' ceremony is a non-religious celebration of commitment for those couples who do not want a legal ceremony, but want to make a solemn declaration of  love for each other in the presence of family and friends.

Same-sex commitments are designed in the same way as man to woman commitment ceremonies but they are not recognised as a legal marriage in Australia.

At the conclusion of the ceremony a 'Certificate of Commitment' is presented to the couple.
